OOTD: Boy Bands Ruined My Life

Today it was time to get out of the house, run errands, get some fresh air and stop treating the chocolate orange as one of my five a day.

I received this banging t-shirt for Christmas from Mr FD and I totally love it although, to be fair, it's not entirely accurate; if anything boy bands have ruined his life, not mine! That said, I put this on, realised it had been TWENTY years since I first saw Take That and wept real, elderly tears.

Love this bag. I picked it up when we were in Prague, but it's only H&M so might be available in stores here. All of the tassels!

Finally I should give my nails a mention: they're Mosaic Flower nail wraps from Avon. I'm a big fan of nail wraps as they last a long time (I can't deal with chipped nail varnish) and I'm not talented enough to create any kind of nail art. These were another Christmas gift; I hadn't tried Avon before, but they seem to be holding up pretty well (Sally Hansen wraps last forever- would totally recommend).

Simply Be and Look Magazine Layer Top Print Maxi Dress

A few weeks ago was my first Christmas party of the season. The theme was Great Gatsby, so obviously I completely ignored that and went as myself. I'd bought this Simply Be/Look Magazine collab dress the month before and was dying for somewhere to wear it.

I'm wearing this in an 18. I could have gone for a 20, but while it wouldn't have shown any VBO, it definitely would have been too loose on the sleeves. Blast this banging pear shape! Considering I'm not wearing any shapewear I think the VBO is fine. As REM once said, "everybody jiggles....sometimes."

Look at all the colours! So pretty.

OOTD: Shirts and Suspension Bridges

Freakum Dress is back online! Thank the Goddess Bey! Some nasties decided to hack my blog and infect people with malware so I had to shut it down, yo. But weeks later and with some new technical knowledge I've managed to sort it (now to get the other blog done *sigh*).

These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago now, on a trip to Bristol. We went to stay with our lovely friend Lolly, who treated us to lots of site seeing and THE BEST SANDWICH I'VE EVER EATEN. No photo of that though, I inhaled it too quickly for the flash.

On a day where I was going to be doing a fair amount of walking I wanted to be comfy, practical and, obviously, stylish (well you never know who you might bump into...) so I plumped for the treggings/boots/checked shirt and bling option. The shirt is from Next and is all soft and silky and lovely. I'm wearing a 20 here and kept it undone. I always have to size up with shirts and I think I'd need a 22 to comfortably do it up without any gaping or riding up.

OOTD: Live Unlimited Drop Hem Dress

Sometimes you just need to go to East London, sit in a pop up restaurant and eat an overpriced burrito (that whole sentence makes me feel ill: West London massive, yo!) Anyway, I'm ashamed to say that's exactly what I did yesterday despite still being a sick pup. My week has been something along the lines of: *cough*....*blow nose*....*cough some more*....*lemsip*....*prolonged coughing fit until I keel over* Still, I needed some fresh air and so off we headed for a day of wandering.

Now, I only bought this last week, but it's already unavailable from the store I bought it from (Wallis). However, Live Unlimited is available in a few places so check online!

I'm a big fan of the classic black look; big boots and leather jacket. I do tend to steer clear of oversized tops though, so this was something new for me.

The material in the body is so SO soft and silky while the arms are made of stretch jersey. This is good for someone like me who has disproportionately large arms and means I didn't need to size up. It's sheer at the back, but there's an in-built cami to prevent any unwanted flashing.

I'm usually not a fan of a drop hem, but this is obviously an exception. It fell to my calves at the back and I'm 5'5" so it might not work for shorties of the world (unless you work it as a train?)

Today I popped this on with boots, leggings and a chain to keep it casual, but I can see myself wearing tights, heels and a statement necklace on a night out. It's such a versatile piece and I can see it becoming a trusty favourite.

Chain: Primark
Leggings: M&S

The Shortest Halloween Ever

Halloweeeen! This year me and some friends decided to head into town to party the night away in a monstrous fashion. I'm not one for making my own costumes anymore (partly because I have no skill in the sewing area and partly due to time), so this year I bought my costume from Large and Lovely. I was happy with the service and particularly happy with the price; I hate the way fancy dress is usually in sizes 4-12 and then anyone above that has to pay a premium for all the many metres of additional material needed to cover their arses. Up with this I will not put!

Unfortunately it didn't turn out the way I envisioned. I hadn't been feeling very well all week and half way through the night I was doubled up in pain with a suspected kidney infection! Oh well. Can't win 'em all.

Today I am mainly sitting on the sofa, slanket clad, drinking tea and feeling sorry for myself. OooOOooOOOoooOOoooooOOoo.

Hope you all had spooky Halloweens!

OOTD: Bardot Boohoo

On Saturday we decided to head into the centre of town for no particular reason. Wandering was on the cards. Wandering and beer. I wanted to wear something that made me feel a bit glam, but that was appropriate for walking around for hours.

This Boohoo dress has been sitting in my wardrobe for weeks, but I never had the occasion to wear it. Warning: it comes up big. I bought this in a 20 and I think you can probably tell from the photos that it's baggy on me. Actually, I quite like that, which is why I decided to keep it, but I popped a vest on underneath lest it should fall down and render me arrestable.

As per, my Simply Be trainers are on my feet. What can I say? They're comfortable and they're leopard print. Bish bash bosh.

OOTD: Droppin' Hs

A quick OOTD for you today. It's Sunday and I wanted to be comfy and slouchy, but still able to leave the house without people throwing change at me.

Treggings are my new best friend. I have a difficult shape (although one I'm sure many share) which means I find it difficult to find trousers/jeans that fit my bum and don't gape at the waist or are loose on the ankle. These M&S ones are a great fit; high waisted and a good length on my stubby legs (and they go up to a 28).

This amazing t-shirt is courtesy of a good friend of mine who is a creative genius and has recently branched out into clothing! Turns out some of my favourite places in London begin with an H - who knew?

Shop Your Stash

"This is all about finding a gem in what you already own and creating a blog post about it. This is to let go a little of the stress that comes with being a blogger - even if it is just once a month. Rummage through your beauty products and climb through those clothes drawers. You might surprise yourself!"

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I Am the Love Child of Pat Butcher. I will never make any apologies for my love of leopard print and earrings that double up as lampshades.

I picked up these leggings at Elena's clothes swap months and months and months ago and have only just pulled them out of the back of my drawers.

When I saw this vest in H&M I had to buy it instantly. 'If not now, when?' is my mantra for life so obviously I want it emblazoned across ma belly.

Bag is from Marisota (not available anymore as far as I can tell). Again, AGES ago and it still hasn't had an outing. Sad face.

Trusty New Look boots, as per. Love these beauts.

In with the old...

It was my BFF's 30th birthday party last night which meant good food, good tunes and...acceptable beer. I decided to order this amazing maxi dress from the Look Magazine/Simply Be collab but, although I absolutely lovvvvve it, I just didn't think it was right for this occasion. Cue me in a fit of panic throwing everything I own out of my wardrobe and this, my friends, is how this outfit was born.

Sorry for the terrible photo quality, but I really only had time for a quick phone pic before running out the door! The dress is an old favourite from ASOS Curve - just a simple black vest bodycon - and I threw a Dorothy Perkins crop top (similar here) over the top, which I tied up to give a bit more shape. I decided to wear my New Look boots as I knew I could last a night of dancing in them. Huge necklace is courtesy of River Island, as per.

I felt really good in this outfit. It's always nice to create something new out of something you already own (believe me I NEED to do this more often...) In fact, I think that's going to be my challenge over the next few months. You never know, I might even get out my sewing kit! (I won't get out my sewing kit)

Magnificent 7th: Autumn Walk

The challenge for Magnificent 7 this month is 'Autumn Walk'. Better late than never, eh?

As soon as I saw the theme I knew exactly what I was wearing. I was given this ASOS Curve shirt dress by Hannah at Plus North and the colours are the definition of autumn. It's a 22, which is bigger than I usually wear, but if I want to I can just add a belt to it. Today I just wore a long sleeved top underneath and left it floaty floaty. I also popped on my trusty Evans ankle boots. Hooray for the return of ankle boot weather!

Goodbye Summer!

I've finally had to admit to myself that summer's over. Packed away are the summer dresses and tropical prints and the big, chunky knits have come out (I do like a chunky knit).

Last weekend I decided to hold a farewell party to the sun and wear my Simply Be jumpsuit. I rolled up the legs and popped on my trusty DCs. Honestly, I've had these trainers for...8 years? They're amazing.

Can we take a moment to talk about how amazing this necklace is? I picked it up at Plus North from Chunky Cat Cuddler and when I wear it I strut down the street like I'm Prince. Give it a year and I'll own every piece of jewellery they have.

Goodbye Summer!

Ladies what lunch

Yesterday I popped down to The Ampersand Hotel in South Ken for an afternoon tea with my sister and my bestie. How civilised! Actually, it was a little bit special because we went for the Science Afternoon Tea, which had lots of quirky bits in it including chocolate dinosaurs, beakers of punch and dry ice (which got a big oooOOooooOOOoohhh from the other diners when it came out).

I wore my Scarlett and Jo dress for the occasion. Actually, it was the first outing for this dress. I'd missed out on buying it the first time round and then scoured eBay for weeks until it finally came up! It's a great length and so pretty; I can see I'll be getting a lot of wear out of it. Excuse the hair, it doesn't do well in humidity. Also, my sister pointed out that these shoes basically make it look as if I'm going bare foot and she's right, they do!

We went to the V&A afterwards where I bought an obscenely large pair of earrings (standard) and popped into the Disobedient Objects exhbition which I'd really recommend. To be honest I'd recommend the V&A to any visitor to London, it's such a nice museum and so vast that there really is something for everyone.

I hope you've all had a good weekend. Chat soon!

Comfy Casual

It's been a while hasn't it? There's been a lot going on, namely starting a new a job which I'm loving, but is taking up a lot of mental energy. Honestly, this month I just haven't wanted to blog. The sane part of me is fine about that and the insane part of me is guilty about it all.

New job is also ensuring that 5 days of the week I'm in business attire, which means I only have TWO days in which to express myself! Cue 15 outfit changes per day. That said, today I was working from home so I had a dress down fest. I also had to put on a big jumper because I was having a shiver fest.

Nothing is new; I bought this cardi back in 2010 from Peacocks and it's turned out to be a winter staple for me. All snuggly and warm and, when not styled properly, like something a crazy art teacher would wear. My Simply Be leopard print sneakers always get a compliment when I wear them (which is a lot).

Anyway, I hope to return to blogging more regularly now. My mojo is back and I received an exciting parcel from Boohoo today which I'm dying to write about!

Speak soon.

Outfit August: 25th

Goodness me I've been flippin' awful at this challenge haven't I? Oh well, what with the house move and changing jobs and everything else this month it's been madness (and most of my clothes have been in piles all over the floor in the spare room as we *still* haven't bought a wardrobe).

Last night we went to a gig and I decided to wear this little number. I picked it up in the ASOS sale a while ago and never wore it due to being a little unsure about the shape (I'm still not sure I'm a swing dress girl). I decided to keep it simple with leggings, boots and a chunky chain.

Necklace: H&M
Boots: Evans

If you do like it it's still available and only £15 in the sale! I found it was pretty true to size and the little PU sleeves are nice and stretchy if your arms are of the hench variety like mine.

OOTD: Scholz and Stripes

I love Anna Scholz. Generally (well, always) her pieces are a little out of my price range, but once the sales are on I pounce like a fashion ninja.

When this dress arrived last night I shrieked, threw it on and then sat on the sofa waiting for daybreak so I could wear it to work (around 75% of this sentence is true). I managed to snap a couple of photos on the way to the tube this morning, so please forgive my morning face! (Also a woman walked past and clearly thought I was nuts.)

Cat bag: H&M
Ankle boots: New Look

Outfit August: 10th

Things I am good at: remembering to take photos. Things I'm really good at: keeping hundreds of photos stored on my computer and not actually uploading them. Oh well! This little dress is from Apples and Pears Clothing, an online store I am particularly partial to. I wouldn't usually wear leggings with a dress of this length, but I think they look fine. Animal print for life, yo!

Dress: Apples and Pears (def size down on this)
Leggings: Simply Be
Shoes: Asda
Bag: H&M
