OOTN: Polka dots and skater skirts

Just a short post from me today and some really high quality photography (not)! On Saturday night I went out with the women folk for chat, schnapps and bizarre nightclubs that think it's still 1991. Still, enough vanilla vodka and you start to forget about how shoddy the music is.

I decided to go a bit glam/rockabilly/casual...

Doing my best Phil Mitchell pose there....

Beauty Buys

First thing's first: I am NOT a beauty blogger. I like to try a bit of amateur nail art every so often and I think I can make my own face look acceptable on a daily basis/night out, but that's where it ends, people. However, recently I've tried a couple of different brands and I'm so impressed with the results that I must share them with you!

First up, The Body Shop's Vitamin E Eye Cream.

I suffer with bags under my eyes. This is due to a number of reasons including stress, lack of sleep and dehydration, but I've never found a good CF under eye cream before that's actually made a difference. It's £10 for 15ml, but I bought this around Christmas and it's still going strong despite me using it every morning! I've definitely noticed a change, much less puffiness and the cream itself is really light and non greasy. Don't just take my word for it, read the reviews here.

Next up, Mally Volumizing Mascara.

Every year my grandmother buys me, my mum and my sister some make up from QVC. Usually it's a Liz Earle set (amazing) and some other surprise bits. This year those surprise bits were Mally, a brand I'd never heard of before. Finding the perfect CF mascara feels like my life's work. I am lucky to have long eyelashes and lots of them, but they are absolutely dead straight. Everything has a tendency to be too thick and clumpy or (worse) no effect at all. This mascara is AMAZING! My eyelashes look long, thick and, best of all, I don't even have to curl them. I've already been online to order another one as I'm wearing it every day.

Check out the other Mally products too. I particularly like the high shine lipstick.

And THAT is the beginning and end of my foray into beauty blogging. Phew. That was stressful.

OOTD: By George!

I, like many others, love a bit of George at Asda, particularly their G21 range. I think it's amazing that you can buy such good quality, fashionable stuff at such reasonable prices. This pinafore is one of those items, currently available for £18!

It's quite tight around the bum (nothing new there), but I like the hourglass shape it gives me due to the cling. It comes with a little coral tshirt, but it was a bit chilly so I popped on my trusty Primarni top underneath. Perfect for a casual day of strolling around town!

I also popped on these lovely earrings that my mum bought me for Christmas. I do love a bit of bling.

Next: London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week is nearly here and I really can't wait to see a) what everyone is wearing and b) what's going to come down that cat walk. I work near Somerset House so I'm DEFINITELY going to be down there to see what's happening!

I've been going to Next a lot recently. I always used to associate them with either the young or the old, but they have some really gorgeous stuff in at the moment. I was talking about them at the weekend and I think they're a brand you expect a certain standard of quality from, but at the same time you don't expect to pay the earth.

I've picked out a few pieces that I'd put together if I was popping down to a cat walk show:

I absolutely love this Black Check Mesh Dress, it's a proper wardrobe staple and a nice twist on a traditional LBD. Oh, AND it goes up to a size 26! Another thing I didn't know about Next.

The Gold Chunky Link Bracelet is right up my street (there's also a matching necklace) and the Soft Cuff Clutch Bag brings a little more glam (you know I'm all about that black and gold). The High Front Shoe Boots makes it all a bit edgier.

So, are you going? And who are you looking forward to (Tom Ford!)?

OOTD: Flawless

Anyone who knows me in real life or follows me on Twitter will a) know of my neverending love for Queen Bey and b) know of my obsession with finding a tshirt/jumper/crop top with 'I Woke Up Like Dis' scrawled across the front. Well, my searching paid off although, to be honest, I didn't search hard, I just went straight to Etsy. I really love Etsy for unusual, vintage and handmade clothes and jewellery.

It arrived yesterday and of course I screamed and threw it on instantly. I'm not going to lie, it's a little tight around the bottom, but tucked into a skirt you'd never know anyway. Besides, cutting off my circulation is a small price to pay for the love of this top.

Shine On You Crazy Diamond

77 Diamonds is celebrating our diamond best friends this Valentine's day, so when they contacted me and asked me to talk about my best friend I leapt at the chance! If I'm honest, I have a few best friends- I think that's okay, right? They're people I've met through different walks of life. I don't think there's a rule that you have to have been born next to your best friend, some really special people I'm only just meeting now!

I met Laura when I went back to school in Scotland nearly 4 years ago. We were part of the 'English posse', didn't know anyone and had left our lives behind to try something new.

It took a while for Laura and I to become close friends, namely because she became ill and had to spend some time in hospital (studying for a Masters and being sick is HARD), but we actually ended up living together! Those months are some of the best memories I have of our time in Scotland (sometimes for all the wrong reasons and sometimes I'm astonished I can remember anything at all).

Laura had to go to the hospital every week; long story short she has Type 1 diabetes and it affects her joints. It wasn't until we lived together around 9 months after meeting that I really understood the sort of pain she was in. I can honestly say she never ever complained and even though sometimes I knew she would return from the hospital very upset, she still didn't spend her time feeling down.

A few years down the line we've both done well for ourselves, working in our chosen profession and still seeing each other often despite living 100 miles apart! Laura (although she will probably kill me for talking about this) is back in hospital again and once again I am astounded at how positive she is. She never talks about being ill, only about getting better and all the incredibly fun adventures we'll be going on once she is.

So yes, if we're talking about diamonds then I think she fits the criteria!

Another thing we have in common is that we both love a bit of bling, so I have chosen some of my favourite 77 Diamonds pieces below:

Happy Valentine's Day!

I Got P.U. Babe

Anyone who follows me on Twitter will know that I have been lusting after this Anna Scholz PU skirt for weeks. January was a lonnnnngggg month and, to be honest, even if it wasn't I'm not sure I could have justified spending £75 on a skirt. Pay day came around, I popped back to the website and it had been reduced to £45! Needless to say that was straight in my basket.

The skirt is such high quality and so soft. I love the little gold zips on the REAL pockets and the length is fine for me. I have the same issue with it that I have with all non-stretch skirts: the hips/bum fits and the waist is huge. I've popped a belt on with it here, but I'm looking for a lovely big waist belt to wear with it next time.

I picked up this bag yesterday from Accessorize where i had been reduced to three pounds. Three pounds. I nearly bought two.

I also picked up these boots from New Look. Despite having a reasonable heel on they're pretty comfy and I'll be snapping up the oxblood pair when I'm next in town!
