OOTD: Werk Like A Boss

Werk like a boss, werk werk like a boss! Sorry, I can't get Lizzo out of my head at the moment. She has a brilliant album titled LIZZOBANGERS which you should definitely buy.

A little OOTD for you today. I'm trying to be a little more adventurous at work, but to be honest I'm always most at home in the black bodycon. I know black can be boring, but I can always dress it up with colourful accessories as I have done below. I bought this purple necklace recently from Bon Marche (with some of my winnings from the lovely Debz). It's not the sort of thing I'd usually buy at all, but I really like it (I also like the way you can hear me coming down the street with all the rattling).

Buffalo Stance!

Simply Be dinner

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited along to dinner with Simply Be and an absolute bevy of bloggers (I've never seen so many in one place at one time!)

I met up with Becky and Em first, who were the nicest people (thank goodness, otherwise meeting them in a basement flat in Euston might not have been such a good idea...)

A quick glass of prosecco and off we headed to Balthazar, in Covent Garden. We were there to check out a new capsule collection, the result of Simply Be and Look magazine collaborating.

But first, let me bore you with a few photos...

I have to say I was really impressed by the collection, which is something I'll look at in more detail in another blog post. What I'm finding though, as a plus size woman, is that more and more companies are catering to what we want, which is to be treated like NORMAL PEOPLE. In other words, don't plaster a load of sequins on it because it's plus size, just make me some fashionable clothes, but in a bigger size. It's not hard!

In true completely disorganised style I didn't get a photo of my outfit (I PROMISE I'll take a photo and put it up in the next post), but here is my face below and you can see a bit of my bling too.

OOTD: Good Friday and...Saturday?

Ahh Easter weekend; four days off work! Hooray! It's so nice to just have time off, relax and do whatever we like. I've definitely been trying to catch up with friends, be productive and ensure I'm not just slobbing out all day though (except for now, obviously, all slanket clad).

Friday:

We'd been at a gig the night before and I'd bought a tshirt so I was ready to crack it out! I popped on a skirt and some plimsolls with it as we were going to Bekonscot Model Village, a place I hadn't been in about 20 years (well, to be fair, once you've seen it there's no real reason to return).

 Saturday:

What a lovely day Saturday was. We decided to pop to a giant car boot sale, a place so heinous that my description of 'hell on earth' is not an exaggeration. After that we pottered around, had lunch...tea...cake...further nibbles...dinner, you know how it is.

I wore my new daisy print dress from Matalan that I had to have after seeing it on other bloggers, specifically Naomi from Diamonds and Pearls. I popped on to the website, saw it was down to £11 and just had to have it.

I bought this in an 18 and it's definitely tight around the arms. The rest of it, however, is incredibly generous, and I definitely needed a belt to pull it in at the waist (without it it was a bit like a swing dress). Anyway I don't care, I love the pattern and I love that you could just as easily wear heels with this instead of boots or sandals.

It's a bit miserable today so we hiked around the woods for a bit, got incredibly wet and now we're drying off at home (definitely NOT an OOTD). Tomorrow we're going to my mum's for lunch so I'll take the opportunity to throw something pretty on then (or gangster- depends how I feel). I hope your weekends are going well!

Trouser Phobia

I, like many plus size women, never wear trousers. The main reason for this is that I can never find a pair to fit that doesn't a) make me look quadruple the size or b) fall down as I walk due to the waist being huge.

All through uni I wore jeans; badly fitting, vom inducing jeans, that did absolutely nothing for me and chub rubbed almost immediately. When I left I swore I wouldn't wear jeans again unless they were absolutely banging...sadly, I haven't found them yet.

But I digress. What I am loving at the moment are printed trousers, so when I saw these on Simply Be I thought I'd take a punt and order them.

They have cheetah bums on! They're polyester, very thin and floaty so perfect for summer. I have pretty short legs and they are a little long on me, but not so long that they touch the ground (I wanted the baggy look so don't mind). What I like about these is that the waist is elasticated so fits well, the bum and thighs are roomy enough, but they're also tapered at the ankle. Oh, and did I say POCKETS?

Today I wore them really casually with a tshirt and flats, but I think I could pop a statement necklace on, some heels/wedges and be happy wearing them out for the night.

You haven't seen the last of me in printed trousers...

OOTD: Werk

Another VERY quick OOTD from me today. It was dress down Friday, but, to be honest, I can never really dress down in my job as I'm always client facing. Still, I casualed it up a bit by adding my gold chain and Boohoo boots. Not going to lie, at times I did feel slightly like a waitress. Damn this pinafore obsession!

Magnificent 7th: Something You Never Wear

This month's challenge is 'something you never wear'. Now, I suppose I could take this one of two ways; it could either be jeans (oh please god no don't make me do it) or I could plunder the depths of my closet for something I've bought, loved at the time and never worn. As you might have guessed I've done the latter.

My mum bought me this Matalan dress YEARS ago. I've never worn it and yet never thrown it out either. Every time I put it on I think '........no' and yet obviously there's something about it that makes me think 'some day'.

You know what I hate? This flipping pussy bow.

If you're a size 20 and you want this, it's yours!

Weekend Boohoo Chic

There are some trends that I love and know I can work. One of them is nineties. I mean, after all, my favourite song is Ride on Time.

Other trends I'm not so sure about: pastels, for example. I'm trying my hardest with it and I WANT to make it work, namely because I do tend to be cautious when it comes to colour. Sports Luxe is another one. I LOVE the concept of Sports Luxe and it's a style one of my blogging heroes, Gabi Fresh, pulls off very well.

This weekend I popped along to Elena's clothes swap and decided to attempt Sports Luxe and try out the new dress I'd just bought from Boohoo. Boohoo Plus is one of the best collections of plus size clothes I have seen in a LONG time. They're on trend and they're essentially 'normal' clothes i.e. clothes that anyone could wear, plus or...minus?! It currently caters for a 16-24, but I do hope they extend that range soon so that women above a size 24 can also enjoy them.

The dress is a 2 in 1; a sleeveless bodycon with an attached tshirt over the top.

Dress: Boohoo Plus
Plimsolls: New Look
Handbag: Marks and Spencer Limited Edition
Earrings: New Look

To be honest, I don't think I pulled it off. I wanted the earrings and the bag to make it look glam, but the plimsolls to keep it fun and casual. I really like the dress, but I didn't realise how much it clung to my tum. Damn this photography!

Here are a few more photos of the clothes swap. I took quite a few things along, but only came back with a couple which, frankly, was probably a good thing! Lots and lots and lots of cake though.

Marisota Scuba Dress

Some of you might have read my previous post about going to Marisota's pop up shop. Well, my absolute favourite try on of the day wasn't available to buy at the time, which I was GUTTED about, but I was patient and as soon as it became available I snapped it up!

This scuba dress is from the new EDIT range, which is now available to buy on Marisota's website. As soon as it arrived yesterday I shrieked, put it on and yelled "it's time to take photos!" (That's essentially the way I react to all new clothing purchases now)

I just love the colours and the material is lovely. I'm a bit lumpy in this, but admittedly I am wearing full on granny pants here so I'd probably wear better ones on a night out. I sized up in this just so it wasn't so clingy, but if you like a tight bodycon then I'd say it's pretty true to size.

I teamed it with my new statement necklace (which I also ordered at the Marisota pop up shop) and my maroon ankle boots from New Look which I found the other day in store for £12. Can't get enough of ankle boots right now!
