OOTD: Black and Blue

Just a quick post today. There has been a LOT going on in my life and it's been hard to find the time to take photos/write blog posts etc., but hopefully things will calm down soon.

This past weekend was just too hot for me. I've taken to wearing my hair up every day now because I just can't cope with the heat! I hate it when you get out of the shower and your face is already sweaty. BLEURGH. We've had the fan on full blast every night; goodness knows how much the electricity bill is going to be.

When I put this on, Mr FD said to me 'black and blue together?' and after my amusement at him becoming a stylist had subsided I thought 'what a stupid rule'- who makes these up?! Anyway, I wore this to go down the pub for a few glasses of Pimms. Nice and casual, but with an added statement necklace.

Ballerina pumps: New Look (old)
Basic tshirt: Dorothy Perkins
Statement necklace: M&S (old)

Shop Your Stash

Welcome to an incredibly late edition of Shop Your Stash! I've been trying to cut down on clothes buying recently as we're moving to a much bigger flat soon and so I'm embarking on the exciting (and expensive) task of furnishing it! I've never had to furnish a flat before so I just own bits and pieces, but now I get to buy new beds and tables and wardrobes...I'm in my element (I just need a £50k pay rise yeah?)

Here are some little bits on my wishlist:

1. Derp Yeti from this amazing little shop on Etsy here. This one has sold out now, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for another...

2. Little pigeon vinyls to stick on the wall! I lovveee pidgies, so these are perfect. Another Etsy find here.

3. Places We've Been: This was on Etsy, but I can't find it now. I think it's such a lovely idea. At home I already have a frame with a map inside it; I'd love to do it on a large scale like this.

4. Now this is the ultimate chair...THE BIBLIOCHAISE. I've lusted after this ever since they used it on Sky Arts years ago, but unfrotunately it hasn't become any more obtainable since then! Look at the beauty...

Once we're moved in I'll try and blog more about my attempts to furnish the place. Wish me luck!

OOTD: Coral Capers

It's been an absolutely beautiful day today although, as per, I've tried on about 15 different dresses before declaring that I own absolutely nothing that fits my spec of small sleeves, lightweight and below the knee....except this of course.

Mr Freakum Dress bought me this dress the summer before last. It's Jasper Conran, not a brand I'd usually consider, but I've had so much wear out of it! It's a gorgeous colour, I love the knotted detail at the top and it's the PERFECT length for me. Every time I wear it I feel a bit glam- and all I did today was eat Wagamamas and stroll around the shops.

I'm getting much better with showing my arms now. I still don't like them, but I'm starting to accept that the only person that has a real problem with my arms is me. I might even wear a sleeveless dress to work tomorrow.....gah!

The Curve

A short time ago I was fortunate enough to win a competition on Georgina's blog and one of my prizes was ANY item of clothing from The Curve. I was in heaven! I decided to choose this little number:

Unfortunately when it arrived it wouldn't even go near me! Even my head was too fat for this dress. Apparently this is an issue with their first collection and I was advised to go for something stretchier, so I plumped (ho ho ho) for the super split maxi dress.

The items are beautifully packaged. It's lovely to receive a box like this in the post and your items wrapped up in tissue paper.

Now, what you can probably tell in these photos is that I am STRUGGLING TO BREATHE. This collection comes up really small and, frankly, I would question whether you can call this collection "plus size" when the reality is that it probably fits sizes 10-18 comfortably! However, I have been told that the sizing has been looked at and changed for the next pieces and that they are planning to increase their range (I've just seen options for size 28 on the website- exciting!)

What I do love about The Curve is a) their customer service and b) how fashion forward their collection is; bright colours, PU, bodycons and, er, leather shorts?! Yes!

Oh, I should also mention my amazing necklace that I love times a million from Simply Be. So sparkly, so big!

Now I just need somewhere to wear it....

OOTD: Sunday Stripes

I can't dress for this weather. The clouds are grey, but it's SO SO hot. It also makes my hair huge. Yes, I am a weather complainer.

Little capped sleeves are perfect for me in the summer as someone who is a bit self conscious about arms. This skirt is from Peacocks and has quickly become a wardrobe staple for me. Full, light and covering my knees, I can wear it without tights and it's still smart enough to wear at work. Essentially I just need this skirt in 5 different colours and I'm sorted. Actually, these little pumps are from Peacocks too- it's not somewhere I go very often, but they have some really nice stuff in right now!

Humidity! Frizz fest.
Top: H&M basic

Birthday Suit

It was my birthday yesterday. 21 again! Ho ho ho. It was a pretty hectic day in the end with lots of errands to run and things to do. Sob story aside, it was a lovely day and I was thoroughly spoilt by friends and family (highlights include a tripod for my camera and not one, but two copies of Mick Foley's autobiography....I think there was an Amazon Wishlist mix up there).

I had been lusting after this dress from Next for a lonnnnnnnnnng time. Well, since February anyway- and that's a long time! The only problem was that it was £69 and almost every size was sold out instantly. I decided to pop onto eBay to have a look and there it was, brand new with tags and 30 quid cheaper. Wooooooooooot.

I'm wearing tights underneath this because the underskirt is quite short and I wasn't feeling brave. Other than that there is nothing I don't love about this dress! Perfect for a night of cocktails and dancing.

Dress: Next (via eBay)
Leopard print pumps: Simply Be
Chain: River Island

If you were interested there do seem to be quite a few of these on eBay and they go up to a size 26. I sized up in this (I always do in Next clothing) and it was the right thing to do as there's not much stretch to it.

Now where's that hangover food....

The Hunt for the Perfect Summer Dress

I was on the hunt for a summer dress that fitted my main criteria: sleeves, scoop/v neck and at least knee length. When I saw this dress on ASOS I immediately snapped it up with the intention of buying every colour in it if it looked good! Now it's here....I'm not sure. It's certainly comfy, but I'm slightly concerned it looks as if I'm walking around in a maternity smock!

Dress: ASOS Curve
Leopard print trainers: Simply Be
Belt: H&M
Chain: River Island

The hunt continues!!
